How NABS Works

Founded in 1983, the National Advertising Benevolent Society (NABS) is the only charitable organization in Canada that provides a dynamic support system for all professionals in the communication industry and related sectors. NABS services have been 100% funded through events and donations; and the support of individuals and organizations through volunteer, in-kind and financial contributions. Over the years, the society has re-invested more than $8.0 million in direct financial support to thousands of industry professionals and their families. ALL NABS SERVICES ARE CONFIDENTIAL AND FREE.

This support benefits professionals throughout their careers. Here's how it works:

How We Help

Professionals in the communication industry and related sectors needing help due to illness, injury, unemployment or economic difficulties can qualify for short-term financial assistance. In addition, NABS offers professional workshops, private counselling and assistance programs at no cost. The 24/7 HELPLINE is your toll-free access to counselling and personal guidance (1-888-355-5548) in both French and English.

Get Involved

NABS offers networking and learning opportunities through workshops and events. Volunteer as a NABS Ambassador to help raise funds and awareness of NABS services.

Corporate Support

NABS offers professional in-office workshops, private off-site counselling and assistance programs at no cost, so you can provide your employees with a complete support system.

Leadership Initiatives

NABS offers the opportunity to show leadership, get involved and give back to the industry. Successful individuals and businesses can support NABS in a variety of ways:

Contributions and recognition

Donate now and you or your business will be added to the Friends of NABS Donor Recognition Program. Every contribution is welcome; no donation is too small.

While all contributors are recongnized, those who support at higher levels also receive other benefits through access to new industry information and invitation to exclusive NABS events.

Making a Difference

When he applied to NABS, he was a 34-year-old married marketing manager with a young son. He had been unemployed for almost three years. His wife’s salary wasn’t enough to cover all the family’s expenses and they had used up all their savings and RRSPs.

NABS arranged financial assistance to help the family with essential needs. Personal, financial and career counseling enabled them to lower expenses and helped him find employment within three months.
