Whether they want to enhance their skills, are having personal or family concerns or are facing difficulties in the office, NABS helps you help them.
We all know that starting and leaving a job can be exciting but also stressful. NABS exists to support our industry in all circumstances related to work, life, balance. The following are FAQ’s that will help you in understanding how NABS can be an incredible partner:
We already have an EAP program. Why use your services?
This FREE service should be seen as a complement to your EAP program. Not all company programs cover all of your needs. We offer a 24 hour Help Line that gives you up to 3 hours of face-to-face personal, career or financial counselling for you and your immediate family members, without having to fill out an application. We also offer a variety of workshops.
I’ve just been let go. I am a freelancer and do not qualify for employment insurance. What now?
NABS can offer financial assistance for up to 3 months while you are trying to get new employment or trying to figure out your other options. Career and Financial counselling would also be beneficial.
I’ve just been let go and I got a severance package and I qualify for Employment insurance. I don’t need financial assistance but might in the future. Should I apply now?
You can, however Career counselling would probably be of more benefit right now. If you call through to our Help Line you can get an appointment with our Career Counselor right away. Up to 3 hours is covered by us without you having to fill out an application. Personal counselling to help you through this difficult time is available as well.
Do you have to be unemployed to utilize your services?
No. Counseling is available to everyone, employed or unemployed. We have workshops available as well. We also offer short-term financial assistance should something come that you can’t cover.
Is it NABS staff that give the counselling.
No. Our EAP provider, Family Services, that does the personal counselling, employs professional counsellors. Calyx Consulting provides our career counselling and Toronto Credit provides our financial counselling.
How long is the process to get financial assistance?
When you call for assistance, an application is sent out immediately which you fill out and send back by email, fax or the mail. A Professional counsellor from Family Services will contact you within 48 hours to set up an appointment (near you office or home) for you to go in for a face-to-face meeting to determine your needs. A report is then developed and presented to our Allocations Committee for approval. The committee meets every two weeks.
Do I have to pay for career, personal or financial counselling?
